Area Customer Marketing Manager

Position Summary

Work as part of a team to further build Gorton's Customer Marketing frozen prepared seafood category leadership in trade strategy, management, analysis, understanding and customer relationships.

Accountabilities

  1. Close interaction with the Sales team providing strategic leadership in devising, presenting and executing customer level strategies to maximize Gorton's profitable volume potential using the most effective and efficient trade programs to help achieve Gorton's overall business objectives.
  2. Innovating in trade to differentiate Gorton's from other CPG competitors, both in trade program or performance development and analysis techniques.
  3. Team participation in the development of Annual Customer Marketing/Sales Plans/Strategies for presentation to senior management, requiring thorough understanding of the marketplace, Gorton's Sales objectives/priorities and Gorton's Consumer Marketing objectives/strategies.
  4. Management of the Trade budget to targets. Thorough knowledge of and accountability for area's spending, including overseeing accurate maintenance and spending estimates, strategic assistance in problem deduction collection and teaming with both Finance and Sales on these efforts.
  5. Detailed analyses, thorough evaluations and resulting recommendations on market performance, customer performance, trade performance and product performances using both external Nielsen data, as well as internal trade/delivery information.
  6. Provide input and guidance for Sales' customer calls, including appropriate analytical and strategic input, assistance in developing business review, new item and/or trade performance plan presentations, as well as participating on many of these customer calls.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of a Bachelors degree level education.
  2. 4-8 years of experience with a Consumer Packaged Goods company, including a minimum 2 years of trade planning responsibilities, along with some prior combination of sales, sales analysis, marketing, marketing analysis experience.
  3. Thorough experience in the use of syndicated databases such as Nielsen and IRI, for comprehensive market, customer and product analyses.
  4. Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  5. Willingness to travel 25- 35% / varies by season.
  6. Ability to prioritize, manage and complete multiple short and long term responsibilities.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills which enable effective interaction and teamwork.
