Judson Reis - President & CEO
I am a lifelong New Englander, born just down the coast in Salem, Massachusetts. While my family moved around a lot when I was young, the North Shore has always been home. So, after completing my degree at Dartmouth College and an MBA at the Columbia Business School, I felt like I was coming home when I came to work at Gorton’s. After 19 wonderful years here, I’m feeling especially lucky to be leading this great company today.
My wife Lisa and I are now empty nesters, with 3 grown children in college, 2 in Massachusetts and one in Vermont. While we don’t get the chance to see them as often, we are enormously proud of the remarkable young adults they have become!
When I’m not at work my pastimes include rooting passionately for my beloved Boston Red Sox, learning more about wine (particularly visiting wine country in California when I can) and getting involved in our local community by serving on the board of the North Shore United Way and my church. Lisa is also very active in the Gloucester community, volunteering at our local hospital, Addison Gilbert, and at the Open Door/Cape Ann Food Pantry.
Marc - Information Technology
I began working at Gorton's in September of 2000 in the Information Technology Department, after graduating from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Over the past nine years, I have worked on three company-wide implementations and countless projects. Working on such a wide variety of projects has broadened my knowledge, skills and experience. Over the years, I have been able to apply these skills and make a difference at Gorton’s. I have also had the opportunity to learn from various mentors, which has been the most satisfying part of working at Gorton's. The people really make Gorton’s a great and fun place to work.
I grew up in Calgary, Canada and spent all of my childhood there. I go back to Canada often to visit my friends and family. Most recently I attended the Calgary Stampede, a weeklong rodeo and exhibition. I enjoy the Boston sports scene, and have officially become part of Red Sox Nation. I also enjoy going to Bruins, Patriots and Celtics games. In my free time I enjoy playing soccer and hockey, and watching the Red Sox. I also volunteer with Big Brother Big Sisters and am a member of the Junior League of Boston.

Besides eating grits and cheering for the Dawgs, I also enjoy relaxing at the beach, reading, hiking, and hanging out with my friends, my parents, and my sister, Jen, who just recently got married.
Bob - Operations
I’ve been at Gorton’s since October 2001 and it’s been a very positive experience. I started as a production worker, learning different jobs such as operator, floor person, material handler, stockroom, palletizer operation and clean-up. In February of 2006, I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the process technician apprentice program. This is a program where individuals with maintenance skills are trained to assume responsibility for overseeing the efficient operation of processing lines within our plant. Since then, I have become a full process technician and now I am running Gorton’s new reseal able pouch line on the 3rd shift.
My wife Peggy and I have been married for 17 years and look forward to many more. Peg and I have 2 children Rebecca in middle school and Kevin in elementary. We have both been lifelong Lynn residents. We enjoy hanging out at the pool, cooking out and family vacations. We love visiting Disney World and on our last trip won a night at Cinderella’s Castle Suite which was awesome! We are also volunteers at Kevin’s school where Peggy is a PTO board member and treasurer.
Working here at Gorton’s has been a great experience. I get paid well and the benefits are good. I have been given the opportunity to grow and now am doing something I really enjoy. The best part for me is the people I work with. There are some great people here, willing to help out anytime, however they can. I feel very fortunate to be where I am now and look forward to many more years here at Gorton’s. .jpg)
Steve - Field Sales
Growing up in the heartland, I have lived in the Midwest and the Kansas City area my entire life. When I was 15, I started out in the grocery business sacking groceries at Kroger; little did I know that it was the start to a lifelong career in the food industry. It was only natural when I earned my business degree from Washburn University that I would gravitate towards a career in the food business.
I recently completed my tenth year at Gorton’s. Time has gone by so fast and I still feel like I’m the new guy, mostly because of so many Gorton’s people who have many more years of service, or who came from a family with multiple generations working for the company. In my position I have the opportunity to travel and work with many customers, sales organizations and consumer product companies throughout the country. One thing that always stands out is the pride of our people. Gorton’s has been in business for 160 years and everyone works together like family to protect that heritage, symbolic with our Icon “The Gorton’s Fisherman”. Unfortunately, you don’t see or hear that sense of collaboration very often anymore as you talk with people who work at other companies.
Ironically, I met my wife Julie in a grocery store many years ago and we now have two teenage children, Alex and Amanda. We love traveling, playing sports, spending time doing any activity outdoors together or just having “family time” as we call it. I think that’s why Gorton’s was such a good fit for me, doing what I love to do with people at Gorton’s who feel the same way.
Andrew – Human Resources
I started my career at Gorton’s as a Distribution Intern during the summer of 2003. The internship was a great way for me to learn the business and witness the “Gorton’s Way” first hand. I made many new friends and felt right at home by the end of the summer. After graduating that fall from Penn State University with a degree in Business Logistics, I knew that the obvious choice for me was to accept the offer to come back and join the team full time.
My current role as Manager of Safety and Employee Programs at our Gloucester production facility has provided me with a fantastic cross functional opportunity. With my background in Logistics, this new role has enabled me to see the business from a new perspective. Over the past five years, Gorton’s has provided me with several cross functional assignments in Distribution, Customer Finance, Purchasing, and most recently Human Resources. The one thing I’ve taken away from each department is a true sense of family. Gloucester is a very tight knit community and it shows in how Gorton’s operates on a daily basis.
I am originally from Philadelphia, but I love New England and all that it has to offer. My wife, Christina, and I live in downtown Salem and enjoy North Shore living. We love to travel and explore new cities, countries, and national parks.
Caitlin - Marketing
I started at Gorton’s on Valentine’s Day 2008 in the Marketing Associate Program, shortly after graduating from Northeastern University. Although I completed three marketing co-ops while at Northeastern, when I graduated I still wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to be when I “grew up,” aside from the fact that I wanted to work in Marketing at a Consumer Packaged Goods company. That’s why the Marketing Associate Program at Gorton’s has been the perfect fit for me – it has given me the opportunity to explore, learn, and work with many different people in both the Marketing Department and the company! For my first year at Gorton’s, I worked as Marketing Associate in Consumer Services and Marketing Research, which was a great experience and really helped me learn more about Gorton’s and our commitment to consumer satisfaction. Recently, I have been transitioned to the role of Trade Analyst in our Customer Marketing area for the East/Central area, and have thoroughly enjoyed working with both the Sales and Customer Marketing teams. Both roles have been wonderful experiences and I look forward to what my future at Gorton’s holds!
Although I grew up in Connecticut, I fell in love with the Boston area during college. I live just outside of Boston, in Melrose, which makes for an easy commute to work (and the Gloucester beaches!), but is just a short T ride away from Downtown! When I’m not at work, I like to spend my time rooting for the Red Sox, cooking, skiing, and enjoying both the Boston and Gloucester areas.
