General Tso’s with Popcorn Shrimp

This recipe proves there are endless ways to enjoy Gorton’s Popcorn Shrimp—like tossing them in General Tso’s sauce and serving with steamed bok choy and rice.

Gorton's Popcorn Shrimp

For the dish:

1 cup Gorton’s Popcorn Shrimp

2 cups steamed bok choy

1 cup cooked white or brown rice

2 tbsp sliced scallions

1 tsp sesame seeds

For the General Tso’s sauce:

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp honey or brown sugar

1 tsp cornstarch

2 tbsp water

1/2 tsp garlic, minced

1/4 tsp ginger, minced

Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for heat

Preparation

Step 1

Prepare Gorton’s Popcorn Shrimp according to package instructions.

Step 2

Meanwhile, steam bok choy until tender and cook rice according to package instructions.

Step 3

Make the General Tso’s sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or brown sugar), cornstarch, water, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Heat in a small skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens, about 2–3 minutes.

Step 4

Toss crispy shrimp in the warm sauce until evenly coated.

Step 5

Serve shrimp over steamed bok choy and rice. Garnish with sliced scallions and sesame seeds.
